Where Inspiration Sings A Song...My Studio, of course!

Welcome!
So glad you've come in to visit with me.
This is the 2nd annual "Where Bloggers Create" Party
hosted by our lovely and sweet hostess, Karen Valentine.
She can be found at My Desert Cottage
along with the complete list of blogs attending this party.

I hope you have fun walking through my studio
 before hopping on to see
the next creative space along the path.

Our home sits on a mountain ridge and we have three levels of living area...
You see that very top level?
That's my main studio that you see in the photo below.
I also have my computer/office area on the main level
in a section of the greatroom and a large room for my fabric
and cutting table on the lower level.
So I've covered all three levels!
We have really wonderful views
so I wanted to have spaces to see all of them. ♥

I think this adventure should begin with a photo of
my studio from last year's party.
I had just moved into our home and a lot of remodeling had begun.
So I shared the bare beginnings of what would become my studio.
Here is the before picture close to a year ago.

The large plate glass window had just been installed..the other windows
are yet to be replaced in this photo. Ok....so hold this image for a while!
It's come a long way, baby!

I'm going to start on the main level at my computer/office area.
This is where I'm sitting when I visit all of you in blogland and
where I do my digital designs, scanning vintage images, printing and other stuff.

 {Click on the photos to see the Large View}

Lots of you have seen my whimsical vintage dress form,
Queen of Light.
Naturally she had to have a bit of a transformation too!
As you can see she's ready to travel along with me to light my path
as I visit all of your wonderful creative spaces this year.

Ok...you still have that "before" image of my upstairs
studio in your mind? Good! Here we go to see it almost a year later...

Through the Looking Glass We Go...
Up, up, up to where inspiration sings a song all the day long.

Keeping in tune with the "night owl" that I am...it only seemed natural
that my photos were taken in the evening.
So here is what you see when you top the stairs and make the turn into the studio.
The room has a cathedral ceiling with lots of glass to display my vintage linens.

{Click on photos to see the Large View}
Moving around the room you'll see lots of Dress Forms.
I guess it must be my "inner child" that insists on dressing and adorning something
....some ladies continue with collecting dolls and then some
collect life sized dress forms to play with.
I have infant size, toddler size, a bit larger and then ladies sizes.
Oh, and thrifting for pretty lingerie and slips and adorning them!

I'm an incurable vintage linen, fabric, crocheted, embroidered
collector so they feed my need to play with all of that.

 Continuing around the room
we now come to what I refer to as the "PiNk Wall".

We took every bookcase, shelf and other thing that resembled a shelf...LOL
and we put this wall together and painted everything PINK..my favorite color!
I think it turned out very well. I was in desperate need of more storage so
Thomas built these tables that you see wrapping around the room.
They are perfect for sliding storage units underneath.
I've covered them with vintage popcorn chenille.
The shelves above this table store my
vintage buttons, beads and findings, and die cuts.
I love tiny glass bottles and have started a collection
and have also fallen for altering bottles
with ribbons, flowers that I make, paper..
you know..anything that strikes my fancy at that moment.

The last wall in the main area is of my Design/Inspiration wall.
I used a 4x8 foot piece of insulation board from Lowe's and covered it with batting
then covered it with one of my vintage damask tablecloths.
You can't see it I'm sure but the sheer fabric that I draped across the top has
glittered spots all over it and of course, there had to be
Crowns for the Queen of Dreamsz!
The table below it holds my light box, tons of pencils, paint sticks and markers.

Thats an amazing studio you have, top of the world : ) The lighting there must be totally good (mine is down below, and not much natural light there) You have so much to discover in there, wow!! I bet you can spend whole days there and not even knowing, lol. I like the fabric flowers (I like making them too). Thank you for visiting my blog and for the very nice comments. Looking forward to what else you'll create.
